Born and raised in Herefordshire, I am passionate about the county. As a lifelong pet owner (Hamsters, Gerbils, Rats, Mice, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Terrapins, Tortoises, Cats and Dogs, and to my mother's horror an Axolotl), it was only natural that my education followed my passion. I spent many holidays working with Arwyn Davies at Hay Veterinary Clinic and many Saturdays in a practice in Birmingham. It was a close call between Agriculture, Marine Biology and Veterinary Medicine but finally I went to to the University of Edinburgh Veterinary School from 1986 to 1992.
After Vet School I worked for two years in the UK. Then in 1995 I went travelling and ended up in Hong Kong where I opened two very busy, small animal veterinary clinics.
.
In 2005 I moved back to Dorset where I owned a veterinary clinic near the beach. Two further years in Hong Kong and then the opportunity came up to have a beef farm near my home in Herefordshire fulfilling my lifelong passion for farming. Fulfilling two dreams at one go -I opened wye valley vets to provide exemplary veterinary care to the pets of Herefordshire . Veterinary Medicine is my passion - the application of science and logic to seemingly mysterious illness combined with caring for their owner. This has maintained my enthusiasm for this profession throughout my career and every day I enjoy coming to "work".
After 10 years of backbreaking work farming along side veterinary medicine I returned from farming in 2024 and now actually enjoy some time not working at both ends of eth A465
